2021 Amphora Gamay, Tumbarumba, NSW
Gamay grown in the ancient soils of Tumbarumba at almost 700 meters above sea level. Fermented and matured in small 250 litre ceramic amphoras made from compressed sandstone.
Abundance of lifted red fruits, sour cherries and raspberries with a hint of white pepper. The palate is bright, fresh, and vibrant with a lovely cranberry like flavour.
Food & Serving Suggestions
French charcuterie such as patés, terrines, rillettes and saucisson sec and with white-rinded cheeses such as Brie and Camembert
The fruit is grown on a vineyard in Tumbarumba at nearly 700 meters above sea level on decomposed granite soils. The high altitude and cool climate make it perfect for growing Gamay.
De-stemmed but not crushed. Whole berries were gently fermented with hand plunging three times a day. The wine spent 2 weeks on skin post fermentation and then drained with a gentle pressing directly to our ceramic amphoras. The wine has been bottled without fining or filtration.
