The Chardonnay is grown on a small vineyard nestled at the bottom of a valley in Tumbarumba close to the Victorian Border. The Maragle Vineyard sits at only 450 meters above sea level which in relative terms to the rest of Tumbarumba is low. This makes this particular vineyard one of the warmest sites in the area and as a result produces Chardonnay with power and intensity of flavour.
Unlike the ‘Gold Label’ Chardonnay, this Chardonnay was fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel in a similar way that some traditional Chablis is produced in the North of Burgundy. The idea is to preserve all the fruit and produce a wine with absolute purity and finesse.
The 2018 ‘Silver Label’ Chardonnay displays beautiful purity of citrus and grape fruit. The palate is vibrant with an explosion of grapefruit and white peaches and a fine backbone of acidity to keep the wine fresh and crunchy.
