The Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on the Tumblong vineyard in Gundagai. The vineyard was planted in the early 90’s by Penfolds, who recognised the deep, iron stone rich soils and dry, warm climate would be the perfect location for Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Historically considered a big, tannic red that required years of cellaring, the popularity of Cabernet Sauvignon has ebbed somewhat with the younger crowd in recent years – but the variety is making a comeback and this wine is for everyone.

Our 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon takes its bearings from the older Australian ‘clarets’ produced in the 70’s and 80’s. It is medium bodied with lovely fresh red fruits, and approachable tannins that give it beautiful tone and warmth. It has a remarkable connection to the vineyard in its character offering subtle earthy, graphite characters. It is drinking beautifully now, and as with all good Cabernets will be rewarded with careful cellaring.
