Sangiovese is the famed grape of Tuscany and is responsible for some of the most revered and celebrated red wine in Italy. In Australia it is grown in many regions ranging from cooler areas such as the Hilltops in New South Wales to warmer climates like Mclaren Vale in South Australia. The styles of wine can very depending where they are grown, from light crunchier styles to full bodied dense dark and tannic wines.

Tasting Notes

Light to medium bodied, red cherries and cranberry aromas with a pleasing rose petal and aniseed character. On the palate the wine is lively with lovely tannins and a crunchy and long finish.

Food & Serving Suggestions

The acidity and tannins in this wine match superbly with tomato based sauces, pasta and grilled meats.

Vineyard Information

The fruit is grown on the Moppitty Vineyard in The Hillstops region. The vineyard sits at 6k50 m/asl on decomposed light granite soils.

Winemaking 

De-stemmed, fermented on skins with an extended maturation of 30 days post ferment. Matured in old French oak puncheons for 18 months.
